Black
Lake Report
July
24th, 2004:
We arrived at the lake at 4 am as usual. We had a total of 13 pre-registered
anglers and 7 more showing up at the ramp. We had a full field of 20
anglers. With many saying that the bite was tough during prefishing.
A few anglers seemed to feel that they could bring 13 to 15 pounds to
scale, that they were on a good bite. However all the prefishing was
done during overcast days and this day was going to be a blue bird day.
Not having my boat for this tournament I cannot tell you the water temperature
but, the several places we fished, me as a non-boater, the water was
stained. We had a northeast wind which made the main lake a little choppy.
Weigh in started at 2:30 pm, there was a lot of talk that the bite was
extremely tough. By the amount of weight at the scales that proved to
be true. Usually Black Lake would take 14 to 15 pounds to win a tournament,
but as you can see above First place was just a little over 10. Out
of 20 anglers, we only had two limits brought to the scale and that
turned out to be first and second place. No one was willing to share
too much information because our regional finals are on this lake. However,
knowing some of the fishermen and what they use I can tell you that
the fish were caught using jig and pig, worms, and a few on a crank
bait. That is the best info that I can provide at this time.
The TOP FIVE:
1st Joe Swader 10.57lbs
2nd
Clark Dingman 10.21lbs
3rd Jim Missel 8.80lbs
4th Joe Liptak 8.11 lbs
5th
