Oneida Lake
July 26, 2003

Top 5 Finishers, left to right,1st to 5th place:

Burnell Haney, Carl Nasello, Tony Gallelli, Mark Mothersell, Frank Ferri

Saturday This tournament started in a bit of confusion. We had to move the tournament from the scheduled Redfield reservoir to Oneida lake because the dam had lowered the water at the reservoir and we could not get some of the boats off the trailers.

We had a few contestants drop out of the tournament because they didn’t have a chance to pre-fish the lake. Well to those of you who didn’t pre-fish and couldn’t pre fish PLEASE read on:

The tournament started on time with the outstanding work of my assistant director Don Tripoli he was at Oneida while I was at Redfield making sure that I had not missed anyone. We did have a few that showed up at this location which I sent to Oneida right away. Unfortunately I left the ramp at 5:10am and did miss 2 contestants My apologies to Eric and Kirk.

The water condition at Oneida was 73 degrees and in what I would call a turn over mode, slightly stained and the winds were calm in the morning and picked up during the day. The wind started from the southeast and then switched to the southwest about 5 to 15 mph. The sky was partly cloudy and the temperature was in the low 80’s

Everyone caught fish at this tournament, there were 5 limits brought in that is a third of the field with out a chance to pre-fish. From the information I could gather the majority of fish were caught in 12 and less of water depth. The winning bag coming from 9 feet and less. OH by the way the winner of this tournament has not been on or seen this lake in 2 years.
Here are the results:

1st Place Burnell Haney 17.38 lbs.
2nd Place Carl Nasello 12.33 lbs
3rd Place Tony Gallelli 9.84 lbs
4th Place Mark Mothersell 9.73 lbs.
5th Place Frank Ferri 9.33 lbs.

Big Bass 1st Burnell Haney 5.92 lbs using a Lucky Craft G-Splash
Big Bass 2nd Carl Nasello 4.33 lbs using (not known)

I’d like to welcome Frank Ferri to ABA….this is his first tournament and he finished in the Top 5!! Welcome aboard Frank and hope to see you at many more tournaments.

Congratulations to Burnell Haney in his 1st Place finish with ABA, using his new Triton Boat and Lucky Craft lures in the process. Unfortunately Burnell, because we did not have enough boats at this tournament, does not qualify for the Triton Gold $1,000 check, but he does qualify for the Lucky Craft program. I will be sending his name in for that.

Thank you to everyone for enduring the hardship of moving the tournament. Speaking for the tournament officials Don Tripoli, Marlene Angelone, and myself. Thank you very much!!

See you all at Cayuga 8-9-03 Deans Cove
