Lake August 21, 2004
Saturday
Morning leaving home was slightly windy but no rain. Driving to the
ramp the rain started and the wind picked up. Early morning registration
and boat inspection was held in heavy rain. Although the temperature
was warm in the high 60’s, with rain and wind it seemed to be
much colder. Upon sendoff there seemed to be no letup to the rain.
Wind was gusting from the North NorthEast all day long, seeing that
this lake runs east and west, made the south shoreline and weedbeds
a little more difficult to fish. The water condition was somewhat
clear and also seemed to be turning over in some areas. South shoreline
was muddied up. Water temperature ranged anywhere from 68 to 71 degrees.
We had a full field of 20 anglers. We had a couple of out of state
anglers getting in their 4th tournament so that they could fish their
local 2-day event. Great to have you join us Bill and Troy!! This
was our last one day tournament for the 2004 season. Our 2 day event
will be held this Saturday and Sunday 8/28 and 8/29. We have 19 anglers
that have met the qualifications to fish the 2 day. This event will
be held on Black Lake…launching at the State ramp with weigh-in
being held at McClears Campground.
From the information that was shared many fish were caught on top
water, Pop R and buzzbaits. The colors were not revealed. I have no
information at all of the pattern that the winner used. Joe Swader
took big fish this week, using his All Star rod…so his name
will be sent to headquarters to enter him in the All Star program.
