Butterfield
Lake Tournament Results August 12, 2006
Saturday
morning we woke up to a temperature of 42 degrees at Cape Vincent.
Arriving at Butterfield Lake in the town of Redwood, the temperature
wasn’t much warmer. By the thermometer on my vehicle it registered
45 degrees. We had a full 20 person field that braved these chilly
early morning conditions. Thank you to all who braved these chilly
temperatures to fish our Last one day tournament of the 2006 season
in District 4.
We delayed
launch, as water temperatures were warmer than the air temperatures,
there was a heavy fog on the water. By 6:30 am the fog had lifted
so that I could safely launch the anglers. The weather conditions
warmed throughout the day and by weigh-in it was in the mid to high
70’s. The water temperature ranged anywhere from 73 degrees
to 76 degrees in the areas that I fished. We had 14 anglers bring
in a five fish limit.
Although
all the weights seemed to be lighter than previous years, Burnell
Haney defended his championship on Butterfield Lake by bringing in
the heaviest weight again this year. The weapon of choice for Burnell
was a drop shot rig. Don’t worry Burnell, I won’t tell
them that secret bait that you used. He also had Big Bass, caught
on an Airrus rod, which if that holds for this month he will win an
Airrus rod in their ABA special program. He also has Anglers Advantage
boat insurance for his Triton. With this 1st place win, he also gets
an extra $100 for having our sponsors insurance.
We have
over 20 anglers that have qualified to fish our 2-Day Championship
on Sodus Bay this coming Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th.
So I am expecting a full-field turnout. At this time I have 14 anglers
that have pre-registered for our 2-day.

NOTATION
The
points awarded for Angler of the Year for the 2007 Season is changing.
For every tournament that is fished in District 4 there will be a
10 point bonus added to your point total. For example, if we have
a full field, and you win the tournament you receive 200 ABA points
PLUS 10 District 4 points, which would equal 210 points total. District
4 has 9 tournaments scheduled for the 2007 season. If you fish them
all, you receive 90 extra District 4 points going towards the 2007
Angler of the Year Award. (These points ONLY count for District 4
AOY) They DO NOT have anything to do with ABA standings.
