Butterfield Lake Report
7-10-2005
Arriving at the ramp at 4 am we could see that this was going to be a much better day than our last tournament…the rain had stopped during the night and the ground had started drying. We had quite a few boats go down at yesterdays tournament. So we were a little anxious to see how many anglers were going to be back to fish this Sunday our third tournament of the regular season. After registration was completed we were able to manage only 20 anglers, but at least it gave us a full field.
Tournament conditions were quite a bit different today. As the sun started popping up we could tell that it was going to be a very bright, hot, sunny day. Talk about different conditions for tournament days..yesterday chilly, windy, rainy all day and today bright sun, no wind and in the low 90’s!
Anglers were quite anxious to get ready to go…Butterfield Lake is not a very big lake..approximately 3 miles long maybe half to three quarters of a mile wide at its widest point…maximum depth is approximately 36 feet. Very well protected from wind so it doesn’t get rough water very often.
Burnell Haney had the fish figured out today..he was fishing mostly points that were close to deep water..he fished 12 to 26’ all day. Burnell’s Big Bass came on a Lucky Craft G-Splash …that fish was the big fish of the tournament tipping the scales at 6.09 lbs. The rest of his fish were caught on senkos using 3 different color combinations. He had mentioned that he had caught 3 limits of fish all day.

The top 5 finishers are:

Burnell Haney 17.42
Paul Milles 13.01
Don Tripoli 11.61
William Sloan Creveling 9.51
Joe Angelone 9.20

Big Bass:

Burnell Haney 6.09 lbs.
