Canandaigua Lake Report
10/21/2006

This Sunday morning was our 3rd Early Bird tournament for the 2007 season. The weatherman forecasted cold and rain in the afternoon…but that is upstate NY in October! You just never know. The wind was not a factor for todays tournament. The temperature was in the low 40's at launch. The wind was out of the west. Lake conditions had waves varying 1 to 2 feet. Water Temperature was 53 to 55 degrees. As today was opening day of duck season, I asked our anglers to be cautious in the locations that they would be fishing.
The tournament winner, was using a 4" worm in 10' and less of water. He had mentioned that he had to cover a lot of water to catch the big limit of fish. Most of the other anglers had mentioned that they were throwing tubes. Bite was awful light. The tournament winner had mentioned, with the exception of a couple fish, he never knew he had a fish on the line until he felt some resistance.
The Top 5 Finishers:

1st Place Barton Butts 18.18lbs.
2nd Place Fred Blom 12.85 lbs
3rd Place Rodney Magee 12.05lbs.
4th Place Dave Livingston 9.00lbs.
5th Place Mark Hertlein 7.46lbs.

Big Bass Barton Butts 5.03 lbs.

2nd Big Bass Fred Blom 4.20 lbs.

This concludes our Early Birds for the 2007 Season. We will be sending out information about our once a month dinner meetings beginning in Feb … location has not been determined for the meeting as of yet. We will be in touch.

Thank you all for a great fishing season!
