Cayuga Lake 6-18-2005

This was our opening day of bass season. Not sure if you guys south of this northern state realize that our season up here closes at the end of October and doesn’t reopen until the 3rd Saturday in June.
Weather conditions were very cloudy, the sun popped out only a couple of times, wind was out of the northwest all day long. Depending on where you were fishing, north end or south end, east or west side, the wave height varied from 1 to 2 feet. Temperature was in the low 60’s, that is right after having a couple of weeks in the mid 90’s. The water temp on the lake Thursday was 78…but for today’s tournament, the warmest that I registered was 71! The water clarity was slightly stained. I would start to lose sight of my lure about 3 to 4 feet down.
We had a record turnout for this district at this tournament. Hopefully we will continue to grow. I believe after 4 years of everybody’s hard work the good word of ABA is spreading and anglers are realizing what a great organization this is. The information that was supplied to me, by those who caught fish, and the tournament winner, used Senkos. We had 28 anglers and 14 had no fish…there was only one limit caught.
Our thanks to the Marina’s Restaurant and Marina for opening up early and serving breakfast to our anglers and supplying the box lunches to those who wanted one.
Our next tournaments are at Redfield Reservoir on July 9th and Butterfield Lake on July 10th. I already have anglers that have signed up for those tournaments. We will see you all there!
