This is District #4’s first Early Bird for the 2007 Season. We expected a full field, but fell a little bit short…we had 15 anglers show up for this event. The weatherman was calling for thunderstorms late in the day, with light winds and a possibility of scattered showers. The temperature this morning was in the low 60’s and most anglers were wearing jackets. A sure sign that Fall is on its way here in the northeast. Temperatures did warm and a few anglers had mentioned that they had rain showers at the north end of Keuka Lake.

The winds today at launch were coming out of the south, which was making the north end of the lake somewhat difficult to fish. It was quite breezy and the water had about a foot and a half chop, which made it difficult for finesse fishing. Although most anglers didn’t mention what was being used to catch their fish, the bite was extremely tough. We only had 2 anglers that brought in a limit of fish. Everyone was mentioning that they were having trouble finding the pattern that would work. I believe the winning weight came in 10 to 20 feet of water. The second place weight came from 8 feet and less, with finesse tactics.

Big Bass Mark Mothersell 4.77lbs.
