Port Bay 7-24-2005

It was a beautiful day to fish today …weatherman’s predictions were correct..this must be a record two days in a row. It was partly cloudy…wind was out of the south southwest variable 5 to 10 mph. Which makes Lake Ontario quite a bit calmer than it was the day before for our Sodus Bay tournament. Temperature was in the mid 80’s .

The water was stained and the water temp was early morning 78 and later in the afternoon it came up to 81 degrees. The bay had very little wave action. Most of which came from other boat traffic, and Jet skis, and how we have all come to love those jet skis. (Yeah Right) Many of the anglers did pull out of the bay some went to Sodus Bay which is about a 6 mile run going west. Some went to another bay called Fair Haven which is approx. 12 miles to the east, and if you chose to do so you could run straight north approx. 63 miles and go into Canada. About half the field did choose to stay inside Port Bay at least for a while, before they made any of the above runs. The baits used, that were shared with me, jig and pig, plastic worms and senkos.
